Call of the Wild

This week we took part in celebrating the Big Read Arizona by reading wild stories! The first story, “Pancake Party” from Three Minute Tales by Margaret Read MacDonald, is a retelling of the little red hen placed in Siberia featuring a mouse, raven, and snowy ptarmigan.  If you don’t know what a Snowy Ptarmigan is, you will after reading this story (see picture above)!

Gerald and Piggie are at it again in, “Pigs Make Me Sneeze” by Mo Willems. With the soon arrival of Flu season (October) the moral of the story is very relevant-friends don’t have to share everything! Learn more about flu prevention at http://www.azdhs.gov/flu/.

Each wolf has their own special song, but all little wolf can muster is a squeak in, “Little Wolf’s Song” by Britta Teckentrup. It isn’t until the full moon is out that little wolf finds his own song to sing.

Kids have the chance to make their own wolf paper bag puppet by visiting http://ow.ly/2P3xp. We got our wiggles out with the songs “Head Shoulders, Knees & Toes” and “Two Little Blackbirds.”

The next Stories & Craft will be Oct. 19& 20!
