Fingers & Toes

This week in Toddler Time we read about our fingers and toes! One of my favorite toddler books is, “Ten Little Fingers and Ten Tiny Toes” by Mem Fox and Helen Oxenbury. In this story readers see babies from all over the world, but no matter where they’re from or how different they may seem, they all have ten little fingers and ten tiny toes.

“Piggies” by Don and Audrey Wood is a silly tale about the characteristics and adventures of our ten fingers.  On Don and Audrey Wood’s website kids can give their own piggies a personality of their own- http://ow.ly/4pEvY .

What shape is a bubble? We broke out the wonderful Gymboree Bubbles to investigate as we sang “10 Little Bubbles;” lyrics are located below. Another fun shape activity where kids can be shape detective is at http://www.sesamestreet.org/parents/kidtivities/shape_detective

“10 Little Bubbles”

One little, two little, three little bubbles

Four little, five little, six little bubbles

Seven little, eight little, nine little bubbles

Ten little bubbles go POP, POP, POP

Remember to mark your calendars for Wednesday April 13; musical storyteller Kevin Roth will be performing at 10:30 in the Zane Grey Room. For more information visit http://ow.ly/4pFAc . *This performance will take the place of Toddler and Preschool Storytime that day.
