A World of Reading!

We celebrated books and cultures this week in Toddler Time! In “The Wonderful Book,” by Leonid Gore, various forest animals discover a mysterious object in the woods, each using it for a different purpose, until a boy reads stories aloud from it, much to the animals’ delight.

This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “One World, Many Stories,” so we read about how people say hello in languages from all around the world in Rachel Isadora’s “Say Hello.” A little girl named Carmelita, her dog Manny and mom take a walk through their neighborhood to visit grandma, greeting people along the way in different languages. “Say Hello,” is a perfect introduction to languages and a discussion starter about different cultures for children.

The Summer Reading Program is for all ages and does not require a Maricopa County library card; it runs from May 26-July 30. Sign up online at www.mcldaz.org/summer starting May 26! During the summer the Queen Creek Branch has programs for kids on Thursdays; see what we’ve going on at http://ow.ly/4PsSC . This week was our last Toddler Time for the spring; we will resume Toddler and Preschool Storytimes in the fall.

Have a great summer!
